Jackknife - Home Jackknife FacebookButton TwitterButton YoutubeButton Home Releases Zine Store Video MP3 Contact Foxtrot Release 2nd LP And Announce National Tour 24Jun Melbourne Punk outfit Foxtrot have announced the surprise release of their 2nd full-length album Habitats, which is available right now from Jackknife Music on Vinyl and as a digital download. The new album features 11 tracks that showcase the full scale of the band – from all out aural assaults, to more measured emotional tracks; songs that were refined on stages across Melbourne are realised in full on Habitats. ‘Updike’, the first single from the album, was premiered on Tone Deaf back in September, with them calling it “everything we’ve come to love and expect from the guys”. To celebrate the release of their album, Foxtrot are hitting the road to bring their visceral live performance to the people of Australia. The nine-date tour will see the band hit the East Coast of the country, including appearances at Party Party Part Sea in Adelaide, and The Reverence Hotel’s 4th Birthday Party. Joining them on the tour will be fellow Melbournians Foley!, who’s debut album Ascot Vale was one of Moshcam’s Top 5 Punk albums of 2015. Since forming in 2010, Foxtrot have become stalwarts of the Melbourne Punk scene. Last year they completed a national tour with The Bennies, and have also supported the likes of Basement, Off With Their Heads, The Aquabats, and The Hotelier. They’ve graced the stages of Poison City Weekender and Gingerfest. Habitats was recorded with Sam Johnson at Holes and Corners Studio. It will be released through influential Melbourne DIY label Jackknife; which boasts an alumni that includes The Smith Street Band, The Bennies, and Georgia Maq (Camp Cope). “Music that is more likely to stand the test of time…their performance was sensational.” – Beat Mag “Unashamedly Australian, pub-sweat infused punk rock” – Tone Deaf FOXTROT – HABITATS TOUR WITH SPECIAL GUESTS FOLEY! Last year’s event was co-curated by Melbourne label Poison City Records and The Smith Street Band –taking it’s name from a track off the Melbourne band’s 2014 album Throw Me in the River– and heavily featured acts from the Poison City Weekender. This year is no different, with Melbourne party starters The Bennies heading up the bill for I Love Life in Sydney and Brisbane. It’s been a party whirlwind for The Bennies since the release of their latest album Wisdom Machine earlier this year. Having already taken on huge album tours in Australia and Europe, the band are back at it as we speak, this week they commenced a huge 27-date tour of Australia. The Bennies will then return in September to bring the party to I Love Life. Joining The Bennies are the brutally energetic High Tension, who started the year with a bang touring on the nationwide Laneway Festival. On the international front, fuzzy four-piece Pity Sex will make their second trip to Australia with their critically acclaimed second full-length White Hot Moon under their belt. Along side them, recent SideOneDummy Records signing and buzz live act Rozwell Kid will make their first trip to Australia. The line-up is bolstered by even more exciting locals with Poison City Records’ hottest new signing Camp Cope making their much anticipated return to Sydney and Brisbane, following recent sold out album launches in both cities. Off the back of a new single and an Australian tour supporting Luca Brasi, Adelaide two-piece The Hard Aches will be representing South Australia on the east coast. Philadelphian pop-punk trio Cayetana will be touring Australia for the first time, they’ve spent the last couple of years heavily touring America in support of their debut self-titled album. Run For Cover band Creative Adult will also join the line-up for the Sydney leg of the I Love Life mini-festivals. With the full run of dates all sold out except for a second Perth show, The Smith Street Band’s passionate frontman Wil Wagner has announced two solo shows in Melbourne and Sydney. This August are Wil’s biggest solo shows to date, playing the Corner Hotel in Melbourne and Oxford Art Factory in Sydney. Guitar in hand, the unashamedly honest Wagner is joined by friend and musical compadre Jeff Rosenstock (Bomb The Music Industry!). New York local but no stranger to our shores, Rosenstock played a string of dates in March this year around his own solo release, We Cool? And has previously joined Wil on tour in Australia and America, not to mention he produced The Smith Street Band’s 2014 album Throw Me In The River. Arguably one of Australia’s hardest working bands, The Smith Street Band have played up in your face punk rock shows non stop around Australia and abroad over the past few years, appearing at many of the country’s finest festivals from Laneway, Splendour in the Grass, Poison City Weekender as well as overseas at Reading and Leeds Festivals (UK) and the enormous Groezrock in Belgium. Throw Me In The River served the band well, landing triple j Album of the Week, scoring a spot in the ARIA top 20 album chart and a nomination for Best Indie Hard Rock/Punk Album at the 2015 AIR Awards. WIL WAGNER WITH JEFF ROSENSTOCK Thursday August 18th – Oxford Art Factory, Sydney Friday August 19th – Corner Hotel, Melbourne THE BENNIES TAKE WISDOM MACHINE REGIONAL IN BIGGEST TOUR TO DATE 26Apr The Bennies recently wrapped up their Wisdom Machine Australian tour in Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Two weeks and 15,000 kilometers later they were playing a festival in Berlin, Germany. It’s indicative of the work ethic for the Melbourne band who have earnt a reputation for not only hard partying but heavy touring. So far 2016 has been a whirlwind for the band. In January, Wisdom Machine’s first single ‘Party Machine’ reached number 88 on triple j’s Hottest 100, some two months before physical copies of the album were even available. They toured the country and sold out shows wherever they went, including Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and while they have always built their name around their live show, with Wisdom Machine, people were now talking loudly about their music. They graced the covers of magazines, scored album of the week accolades and even infiltrated the charts, with the album debuting at number 40 on the ARIA Album chart and number 10 on the Australian chart. They drew the attention of Less Than Jake drummer, and owner of Florida based label Paper & Plastic, Vinnie Fiorello, who released their album in the UK and US, and they got invited to play at Belgium festival Groezrock, alongside their heroes in Rancid. Spending April and May in their fourth continent in as many years, The Bennies will return home from their European and UK tour, to continue the second phase of their Wisdom Machine tour. Constantly outdoing themselves with everything they do, this will be their biggest and most expansive tour to date, with 27 shows across each state, regional shows and new destinations they have previously never visited, including Townsville, Albany, Karratha, Werribee and, by popular demand, Nimbin. Proudly presented by triple j, catch The Bennies pack out dance floors this June and July, supported by Poison City label mates Clowns, who are also fresh from European tour dates. Also along for the wild ride will be Perth power pop outfit Axe Girl, featuring Ness from Jebediah.
